Ileana the Irrepressible

Today, I did a Q&A with Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, here. She is the congresswoman from Miami, born in Cuba. Naturally, we talked about Cuba and America, Obama and the Castros. What about the terror list? What about dissidents? What about trade and tourism?

Incidentally, how does someone like Ileana Ros-Lehtinen feel when she sees a Che Guevara T-shirt, as she does, like the rest of us, regularly?

We also talk about the issue of the hour, namely Iran and the Bomb. We don’t neglect presidential politics: Ros-Lehtinen is a friend of both Jeb and Marco, and she has represented them for many years. That is, they are her constituents, one in Coral Gables, one in West Miami. And she loves both men, unabashedly. But she has endorsed one (Bush).

In my view, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen is one of the most extraordinary people in politics. She’s petite and feminine, cute and sparkling. But she’s tough as nails — a battleship — especially when it comes to America’s many enemies around the globe.

If you don’t know her yet, this half-hour podcast (here again) is a pretty good introduction.
