But I’ll Bet They Know All About Malcolm X

No surprises here. Students at elite universities know even less about American history and government when they graduate than when they enroll.

The NY Sun reports :

At universities such as Princeton, Yale, Cornell, Duke, and Berkeley, seniors scored lower on the test than freshmen, living proof of the broadening relevancy of the old Harvard adage that the university is a storehouse of knowledge because “the freshmen bring so much and the seniors take away so little.”

Left-wing Columbia professor Eric Foner is not worried.

“The study of history has changed enormously,” Mr. Foner said. “It’s become much more broad and diverse. The study of facts about particular battles has diminished, but maybe students are in a better position to answer questions about the abolition of slavery.”

Yes, he’s done his job well. We all know what “diverse” means. It doesn’t mean varied, or broad, or nuanced. It means deadening propaganda and a profound distortion of reality.
