Illinois GOP-Primary Update: Jeanne Ives’s Powerful Eleventh-Hour Ad

The Land of Lincoln is proving to be the land of underwater homes — Crain’s Chicago Business reports that the Second City is leading America in this ugly category. So the property-taxes issue is a somewhat sensitive one in Illinois, and has now emerged as a campaign issue: The fact that Governor Bruce Rauner pays a relative pittance on his Chicago penthouse (thanks to a sweetheart deal applied to his building) is a subject of this new hard-hitting ad by the campaign of his primary foe, the National Review-endorsed conservative state representative Jeanne Ives.
