 …but Alphonso, the consensus here is that you ought to be toast. An e-mailer writes: “To deny or grant a government contract based on politics is an illegal act.  For that you get punished by the courts.  Claiming (and then denying) that such an act occurred is a (very) stupid act.  For that you get punished by your boss.  Thus it IS fireable, just not fineable.”
