Immigration Cops

Mickey Kaus responds to my comments on his immigration views. Basically, Kaus says we’ll get more in any eventual deal, if there is one, by hanging tough now and making no concessions.  Kaus is right that we need tough cops.  But some sweet talking types have got to pave the way for an eventual compromise, I still believe.  And again, Kaus is not worried about the political dangers to Republicans of a failed deal.  I am.  In any case, tactical differences aside, this is obviously a very difficult jigsaw puzzle, which may or may not get put together.  We’re feeling our way in the dark.  Kaus’s is sharp and helpful, as usual.  Meanwhile, have a look at this immigration piece from Tom Bevan.
