Immigration Tidbits

* Mexican police use tear gas on Central American illegals. What do you think Mexico would do if we gassed their illegals?

* San Francisco gets sued for failing to report noncitizens arrested for drugs, as required by California law. The same lawyer, David Klehm, is also helping companies sue competitors that hire illegals. If you’re in the market for that sort of thing, check this out.

* Rep. Luis Gutierrez, co-sponsor of the House amnesty bill with former fiscal conservative Jeff Flake, had this to say at yesterday’s Small Business Committee hearing on immigration (around the 4 minute mark here): “It is precisely because family-based immigrants lack specific skills that they are able to more readily seize upon the opportunities presented by a dynamic economy.” So, is it now the position of the amnesty crowd that dropouts are actually better for the eocnomy that, say, trained chemists? Truly impressive sophistry.
