* Rep. Luis Gutierrez, co-sponsor of the House amnesty bill with former fiscal conservative Jeff Flake, had this to say at yesterday’s Small Business Committee hearing on immigration (around the 4 minute mark here): “It is precisely because family-based immigrants lack specific skills that they are able to more readily seize upon the opportunities presented by a dynamic economy.” So, is it now the position of the amnesty crowd that dropouts are actually better for the eocnomy that, say, trained chemists? Truly impressive sophistry.
