Immoderate Times

PPP has a new look at how Republican candidates are doing with moderate voters. Overall the answer is “not very well, but an awful lot of them are still going to get elected.” (Which, by the way, will give conservatives a chance to move the center rightward by governing well).

The worst performers with moderates should be no surprise. Here are the bottom three with their approval splits among moderates:

Christine O’Donnell: 14/63 (-49)

Sharron Angle: 18/69 (-51)

Joe Miller: 15/72 (-57)

What is surprising is that, given these numbers,  Joe Miller is a favorite to win in a three-way race that includes an incumbent Republican; Sharron Angle is even money to unseat the sitting Senate Majority Leader; and Christine O’Donnell, while behind, has the cash and the momentum to pull a stunner in Joe Biden’s old seat.

Immoderate times, I suppose, call for immoderate conservatives.
