In a Legal Skirmish against the Authoritarians, Freedom Wins

(Andrew Kelly/Reuters)

California passed a law mandating that corporations have “diverse” boards of directors, meaning that they had to have quotas of “underrepresented” minorities. It was a symbol of the power of the statists to tell people in business with whom they must associate.

Fortunately, a state judge has now ruled that the law is unconstitutional under the equal-protection clause of the California constitution. Read about the case here.

Bravo to Judicial Watch for fighting to preserve a piece of freedom. Those who run businesses shouldn’t be compelled to have directors they don’t want, no matter what diversity boxes they check.
