the tenor of the e-mails I’m getting is ” Sigh….I hope this nomination is withdrawn and soon.” Grassrooters who worked so hard to get the president elected don’t want to be fighting him. Meanwhile, they don’t have the drive to fight for Miers (say if there is a Dem opposition to her). More bad news could be coming for the White House on other fronts (Rove? Libby?). So many of the people I’m getting mail from just want to rally behind their president’s Scotus pick, but have been giving nothing to work with on this one. They’d work with him if he would.
