The same number of Republicans – 19 percent — are more and less likely respectively to vote for Rick Perry as a result of his labeling Social Security a “Ponzi scheme,” according to a new Gallup poll.
Twenty-four percent said Perry’s comment had no impact on their decision, while 36 percent were unsure of the impact.
But independents were more concerned about the remarks. Thirty-two percent said they were less likely to vote for Perry, and only 12 percent said the “Ponzi scheme” rhetoric made them more likely to support him.
Thirty-seven percent of Republicans and 40 percent of independents think that the comment will hurt Perry in the general election.
