A new federal indictment alleges that, for four years, from June 2018 through June 2022, Bob Menendez was acting as an unregistered agent for the Egyptian government, in violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). For a year and a half of that period, Menendez was chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a position for which his Democratic colleagues chose him. Moreover, for 15 months after the FBI raided his home in June 2022 and found a treasure trove of cash, gold, and other incriminating evidence, Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats left him in that position.
I ask again: What did Schumer and Merrick Garland know about this, and when did they know it? Why wasn’t Menendez considered an urgent security risk in the way that General Michael Flynn was?
