I invoked the name of Scottish poet William McGonagall in a recent Corner
post. At the same time, we had a wee thread going about striking or
desirable names. A reader reminds me–I had quite forgotten–that
McGonagall’s middle name was Topaz. William Topaz McGonagall. Roll that
