I was offline most of last week in Turkey at a conference about multilateralism and security, talking about asymmetric threat concepts. It was a good opportunity to catch up with people. The big story in the hallways, at least among Turkish journalists, was an incident two weeks ago in which Kurdish terrorists attacked train tracks and derailed a train. What was not in the initial account, but is the reason for all the discussion is what was found on the train: Supposedly, the train had been traveling from Iran to Syria carrying, according to its manifest, medicine. When it derailed, investigators and police found rocket-propelled grenades and other weaponry.
