Iran ‘Lashes Out’

The tyrants shouldn’t be in the position to beckon. Here’s the latest from the New York Times

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Iran summoned the British ambassador in Tehran to the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday as the government accused Western countries of supporting protesters after violent demonstrations rocked cities across Iran and left at least eight people dead, the British Foreign office said.

Speaking to reporters, the spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ramin Mehmanparast, said countries including the United States and Britain had miscalculated in criticizing the government’s crackdown on the demonstrators.

“Some Western countries are supporting this sort of activities. This is intervention in our internal affairs. We strongly condemn it,” he said, according to The Associated Press. “In this regard, the British ambassador will be summoned today.”

The British government said its ambassador to Iran, Simon Gass, would respond “robustly” to any criticism and would reiterate calls for Iran to respect the rights of its people.
