Iran’s Fars news agency modified a picture of Michelle Obama from last night’s Oscars in an effort to make her appear more modestly dressed. In the altered image, the first lady’s chest and shoulders are covered.
The dress she actually wore was more revealing. According to the pool report, Mrs. Obama wore the same dress to last night’s National Governors’ Association dinner.
The first lady made a surprise appearance at last night’s awards ceremony to present the award for best picture to the movie Argo. BuzzFeed’s Rosie Gray notes that Iran dismissed the movie, which portrays the CIA’s successful plot to rescue American diplomats from Iran shortly after the 1979 revolution, as an “advertisement for the CIA.”
