An Iraq-War Election?

Charles Krauthammer wants it to be one. I don’t think McCain can make it into one, and I don’t think he should try. Of course it is true that continuing to make the case for his policy is important; I even think that Peter Feaver is right to suggest that McCain needs to make the argument that it made sense to go into Iraq in the first place. But selling a reformist conservative domestic agenda offers a greater marginal return. It’s McCain’s party’s biggest political liability. Why not try to reduce it?
