The Kurdistan Regional Government may spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per year on Inside-the-Beltway lobbyists, but no amount of public relations is going to make Iraqi Kurdistan become as democratic, safe, and stable a region as some claim so long as arbitrary detention of independent journalists and civil society continues.
