The Irony May Be Found in the Word ‘Smart’

An organization that I will decline to link to has cited the case of Elizabeth Smart as an example of the horrors of homeschooling. Smart, as you may recall, as a 14-year-old was abducted, raped, and held as a sex slave by some maniac who believed himself to be some sort of prophet.

I am not sure what sort of mental gymnastics one has to go through to get from “abducting and raping” to “homeschooling.” I don’t really want to know.

I do not know what is wrong with these people, but they probably should not be allowed to use the word “smart,” being so far removed from the condition.
