Israel Halts for Holocaust Remembrance Day

Skyline of Tel Aviv, Israel (Amir Cohen/Reuters)

Tel Aviv Today is Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day, in Israel. In keeping with tradition, the country came to a halt for two minutes this morning.

At 10 a.m., air-raid sirens sounded throughout Israel, and everybody stopped to reflect; whether working, walking, driving, etc. — Israelis suspended whatever activity they were doing.

I shot the following video from a bridge in central Tel Aviv overlooking the Ayalon, which is a busy highway that runs through the city.
