‘It May Not Be Good for America, But It’s Damn Good for CBS!’

Here’s Les Moonves, executive chairman and CEO — “a lifelong Democrat who has a framed photograph of him with Presidents Obama and Clinton in both his New York and L.A. offices” — raving about how Donald Trump has turned the GOP primary into a bomb-throwing circus:

“It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS,” he said of the presidential race.

Moonves called the campaign for president a “circus” full of “bomb throwing,” and he hopes it continues.

“Most of the ads are not about issues. They’re sort of like the debates,” he said.

“Man, who would have expected the ride we’re all having right now? . . . The money’s rolling in and this is fun,” he said.

“I’ve never seen anything like this, and this going to be a very good year for us. Sorry. It’s a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going,” said Moonves.

He made similar comments in December: “We love having all 16 Republican candidates throwing crap at each other. . . . The more they spend, the better it is for us.”

Somehow, despite everything Republicans said about not wanting to have a divisive primary, not wanting to beat each other up, moving up the primary dates, moving up the convention, every RNC step to ensure a united party headed into the general election . . . here we are, where Republicans are showcasing a bomb-throwing circus and Les Moonves couldn’t be happier.
