It’s 21st Amendment Day — Cheers!

Much as it appears, as Jefferson wrote, that “the natural progress of things is for government to gain ground and liberty to yield,” history shows that not every bad government idea is destined to remain in force for posterity. Today is the 79th anniversary of the ratification of the 21st Amendment, which effectively ended the republic’s disastrous experiment with Prohibition and removed from the Constitution what was a considerable a blot on the American escutcheon. Cheers!
