The Corner

Jack Rolling

On our recent family jaunt across the pond I visited my home town of

Northampton, a sleepy place in the English Midlands, where nothing much has

happened since Thomas a Becket fled from Northampton Castle back in the 12th century. Well, no sooner had I passed through than Northampton got itself

in the news. According to this report in the London Times, this may mark

the first appearance in Britain of a gruesome South African crime known as

“jack rolling.”
