The Corner

James L. Buckley for Easter

National Review Institute has posted a second essay by Jim Buckley. In this “must read” the distinguished former senator and judge examines his responsibilities to his religion and to his office. With a welcome clarity, he explains the different obligations of a legislator and a judge. In this thoughtful piece, Judge Buckley criticizes the Supreme Court’s inappropriate role in the culture wars and ruefully notes, “If enough people engage in conduct that society once condemned, we rewrite the rule book and assume that God, as a good democrat, will go along.”
