Jeter

A major theme of the All-Star Game tonight will be honoring Derek Jeter. His longevity and consistency have been extraordinary, of course, but what really sets him apart is his exceptional baseball intelligence and (I know this is a terrible cliché) the way he plays the game. The famous plays that best capture his character as a player both took place mostly in foul territory.

One is, of course, “the flip” in the ALDS against the A’s (it’s a great play-by-play call, by the way):
