Jill Biden says she’s never, ever seen any signs of cognitive decline in her husband.
Former first lady Jill Biden told CBS Sunday Morning that she never, ever saw any signs of her husband falling into cognitive decline, and even contends that it is “not true” that people met him and said he “wasn’t the same Joe Biden” that they were used to seeing.
She’s lying. We know she’s lying, and she likely knows that we know she’s lying. But she lies anyway.
We are at the end of May. Former president Joe Biden — who is being treated for prostate cancer — has made just a handful of public appearances so far this year. He appeared at an event for South Carolina Democrats in February, and at an event in Boston in March. Earlier this month, he was scheduled to appear a an event in Philadelphia but canceled.
It is the same dynamic as during his presidency. If Joe Biden were well — mentally and physically — we would be seeing him and hearing from him much more often. He is not.
As for Biden’s cancer diagnosis, the former first lady said, “I do feel we had amazing care in the White House but somehow that was missed.” It is indeed true that most medical organizations, including the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, recommend stopping routine PSA (prostate-specific antigen) screening at age 70.
But then again, most men over 70 aren’t the president of the United States. There is something bewildering about the fact that at no point during his presidency did Biden’s doctors choose to run a PSA test. That test is a blood test, and the president’s health checkups already included drawing blood.
