Joe Biden Is Hitting the Campaign Trail . . . in Colorado, California, and Oregon

I have noted that Joe Biden hasn’t done many events with Democrats running for office in 2022. The West Coast trip that begins today takes him a step closer, as he’s dedicating a national monument in Colorado alongside Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, who is looking pretty comfortable in his bid for reelection. Then he heads to California, where Biden will appear at a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in Brentwood. Finally, Biden heads north to Oregon:

On Friday, Biden is expected to travel to Portland and participate in a “grassroots volunteer event with the Oregon Democrats,” according to a press release from the White House Press Office.

The following day, Biden reportedly plans to participate in a reception for Oregon Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek before delivering remarks on lowering costs for American families.

As our Nate Hochman notes, this is shaping up to be the most promising year for Oregon Republicans in years, as Christine Drazan is the GOP’s best shot at the governor’s mansion in recent memory, and there’s an unexpectedly competitive U.S. House race in Salem and suburban Portland.

Civiqs puts Biden’s approval rating at 49 percent in California and 43 percent in Colorado and Oregon. It is still tough to find places on the map where a Biden visit is a big assist to the Democratic candidate.
