With the Supreme Court set to hear the first of its two cases on the matter today, Time magazine’s political columnist Joe Klein couldn’t believe same-sex marriage was still an issue of contention on Morning Joe today. “To my kids, it’s just mystifying that anybody would be opposed to it,” he said.
Klein also found it “weird” that California, “which is always the advance guard” of social change, voted in favor of Prop 8, which defined marriage between one man and one woman in the state’s constitution. The Court will hear arguments on the 2008 ballot proposition today, arguments on the Defense of Marriage Act tomorrow.
