In a segment on Fox News yesterday, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton responded harshly to President Obama’s decision to abstain from a United Nations Security Resolution that condemns Israeli settlement activity:

Ed Henry: “I wonder do you believe this was President Obama stabbing Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel in the back.”
John Bolton: “No I think it was in the front. I think this was clearly intended to do do much more than affect the issue of Israeli settlements. I think when you read the text of the resolution carefully, it’s an implicit repeal of the iconic Resolution 242 adopted by the Security Council after the 1967 war. And it constitutes an abandonment of the entire concept of land for peace because it is an effort to establish Israel’s boundaries. And for consequences to flow from that that could be very, very damaging for Israel.”
