The Corner

It seems to me that the former senator could be well-positioned in the Democratic field 2008.  He remains a media favorite and has the experience of national campaigns under his belt.  Having voted for its authorization, he is now contrite and opposed to the war in Iraq.  He wouldn’t have voted on issues for 4 years so he can redefine himself in helpful ways.  As Andy Ferguson notes, he is still doing that “Two Americas” thing that sets liberal hearts aflutter, but he has put a conservative gloss on it.  He even has a shot at looking like a “fresh face” from outside D.C.  I think Democrats who doubt Hillary is electable will be taking a serious look at Edwards.
