The AP reports that freshman GOP Michigan congressman John James will not run for the open Michigan Senate seat in 2024:

In 2020, James fell just 1.7 points short of unseating incumbent Democratic senator Gary Peters, while Donald Trump lost Michigan by 2.8 points. James won his House seat by just 0.5 points in 2022, a seat that easily could have been lost by a weaker candidate. House Republicans will be pleased to see him try to defend their slim majority in 2024.
