HBO’s John Oliver is often very funny, very profane, and sadly predictably partisan. Last night Oliver’s show featured a 14-minute segment on threats to the right to vote, contending that it is “difficult” for the registered voters to obtain a government-issued identification and show it when they vote.
How does a satirist do an entire segment on threats to the right to vote, and how nefarious powerful political forces are “perverting democracy”, and not mention that delegates to the Iowa Democratic Party’s county conventions get resolved by coin toss, or the Democratic presidential primary super-delegates, where one Democratic officeholder carries as much roughly 10,000 primary votes?
Don’t worry, Last Week Tonight viewers, the Republicans are always the bad guy. You can always trust the Democrats.
