The Australians are entirely correct to be concerned about people bringing not-native diseases to their shores. Given how rich Depp is, fining him alone would be rather pointless. He can afford his sins and transgressions. But making them record this hostage video is far more valuable to the Australians and far, far, more inconvenient to the Depps.
Moreover, I say well-played to the Depps. They convey just how pissed off they are to be doing this quite brilliantly. The spirit seems to me “We owe you our compliance, not our sincerity.”
