Jonathan Winters & The Emmys

Among the myriad reasons the Emmys were lame last night was the weird way they dealt with recently deceased TV stars. Cory Monteith, the star of Glee who tragically died recently, was given a personal tribute. But Jack Klugman, a titan of television, was relegate to the perfunctory montage of departed stars towards the end of the show. Robin Wiliams gave a touching tribute to Jonathan Winters, but as with the other personal tributes it fell to Williams to describe Winters’ gift rather than simply show it. Winters was a true genius, probably a mad genius, but a genius nonetheless. Here is improvising with a stick:
