Gallup continued its polling series on patriotism. The percentage of Americans extremely proud of the country is at a low, with pride among Democrats taking a dive. But liberals have been less patriotic than conservatives for years, even during the Obama administration. These are people who surely would say they believe in abstract ideas associated with America — but they’re not particularly into the country as it as exists.
Meanwhile, the always acute Megan McArdle had an excellent column making the case that we need more nationalism to help hold the country together, now more than ever.
