Just Laugh

I may be a grouch this morning, but I don’t strongly disagree with this reader:

Klo:

You’re probably right about making jokes at serious times, but did he really make jokes about serious issues?  The war funding is a serious issue and I don’t think he made any jokes about that, right?  The Gonzales issue is not serious and the whole thing stinks–mostly the fact that it’s an issue at all, but also in the way it was handled.

Two more thoughts.

His father had always told him that you needed to be able to laugh or you lose your mind.  Good advice.

It also occurred to me that I don’t remember Clinton, for all his oratorical skills, ever doing anything remotely like self-deprecating humor.  Do you?
