Just a Little Bit More Walking . . .

. . . down Memory Lane, that is. In his 2000 campaign, George W. Bush talked very much like his father had, in the ’88 speech — I mean, where philosophy was concerned. (In other ways, too.) He used the word “subsidiarity” quite a bit, partly in hopes of attracting Catholic voters who would have been familiar with the word. All are familiar with the concept: If the individual can do it, he does; if the family, that; and after the family, the community, then the town, then the county, etc., etc.

Has Senator McCain articulated a similar philosophy, in any fashion? I’m sure he has. And yet so little, amid the general noise and hoopla, gets out.

P.S. If I’ve been a little loose on “subsidiarity” — thanks for forgiving my looseness, and accepting the drift.
