Justin Carter Out on Bail

Well, it’s not freedom, but Justin Carter — the 19-year-old Texan who has been in jail since March for making a sarcastic, if poorly considered, comment while playing an online video game — is out on bail. Justin’s attorney, Don Flanary, tells MSNBC that an “anonymous good Samaritan” paid Justin’s bail, set by a Comal County judge at a staggering $500,000. Justin, who is charged with making terroristic threats, is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday.

National Review Online’s Charles C. W. Cooke wrote about Justin’s case earlier this month. You can read the full piece here.
