Kasich Wins in Ohio

Republican John Kasich has defeated incumbent Democrat Ted Strickland in the Ohio gubernatorial race, according to CNN. Over at Battle ’10, Mytheos Holt, who’s been covering the race aggressively, writes nicely about the Republican gains in the Buckeye State:

This has been quite the race, but in the end it came down to one thing and one thing only — a visionary, if gruff and unapproachable, conviction politician beating a small-minded schoolyard bully. . . . As the first one-term governor in recent Ohio history, Ted Strickland is set to be Ohio’s Jimmy Carter, and he won’t be stealing anyone else’s lunch money.

Update: Not only did Kasich win, but the Republicans swept every state-level office in Ohio.
