Keep an Eye on the Milwaukee ‘Burbs

Craig Gilbert reports:

Combined, the Milwaukee and Green Bay markets typically account for about two-thirds of the state’s Republican vote.

But the pulsing heart of the GOP electorate here can be found in the very conservative suburban counties that ring Milwaukee: Waukesha, Washington and Ozaukee.

They are home to the state’s most active and reliable Republican voters. Waukesha, Ozaukee and Washington ranked one, two and three in Wisconsin in the percentage of voting-age adults that turned out in the 2010 primary for governor won by Republican Scott Walker.

For Romney to win Wisconsin, he probably needs to sweep those counties.
