There were dueling messages yesterday. Democrats: The Bush White House lied us into war and the Republicans are stonewalling an investigation. Republicans: Harry Reid invoked Rule 21 without notifying the Majority Leader. There were dualing damage assessments. Democrats: Over 2,000 killed in Iraq. Republicans: Bill Frist feels as though he’s been slapped in the face. Not a bad result for a stunt borne of impotence (“we’re powerless around here and now we’re losing the Supreme Court”). If Republicans hadn’t risen to the bait the secret session would have remained a secret.
