Several readers have already objected that I didn’t mention the problem of Jihadist recruitment in American prisons. I think that is a completely good and valid point, and another sound argument against putting the Gitmo combatants in American prisons. That said, I hadn’t heard anyone argue that these Jihadis would be put in the general population, which does seem particularly idiotic. I thought one of the arguments against bringing them to American soil was that it would cost so much to create stand-alone facilities in these prisons.
