Congressional candidates Joseph Kennedy III (D) and Sean Bielat (R) both oppose voter initiatives that, if passed on November 6, will legalize assisted suicide and medical marijuana in Massachusetts. Democrats tend to strongly support medical marijuana and generally favor the legalization of assisted suicide–although there is more division on that question–so Kennedy is swimming contrary to his party’s general tendencies on those two contentious issues.
