Secretary of State John Kerry explained this morning that the U.S. government now has evidence of “signatures of sarin” gas from first responders in Damascus and “hair and blood samples” that it’s received through “independent sources,” evidence recently acquired and not previously mentioned in the White House’s case for strikes. “The case for action grows stronger by the day,” Kerry said.
CNN’s Gloria Borger asked him if the physical evidence had come from U.N. inspectors; Kerry clarified that the U.S. government has obtained the evidence on its own. Some members of Congress have expressed skepticism about the strength of the White House’s case that the regime used chemical weapons in Damascus on August 21.
