With Tucker Carlson going deeper into conspiracy-theory territory after defending his interview with Hitler and Stalin booster Nick Fuentes, NRO Editor Phil Klein took the podcaster to task and rejected the attitude of “no enemies to the right,” on Friday’s edition of The Editors.
Klein argued that Carlson isn’t making conservative arguments anyway, saying, “I understand there was an iteration of Tucker Carlson where he was talking a lot about . . . private equity companies and hedge funds coming in and hollowing out small towns or where he was talking about the opioid epidemic or immigration. . . . But that’s not what he’s spending his time doing now.”
Instead, “He’s attacking Bonhoeffer. . . . He’s pushing the idea that ‘Maybe we were on the wrong side in World War II.’ He’s defending Maduro. He is defending Boko Haram and attacking Ted Cruz for caring about the plight of Christians being persecuted. He is doing this chemtrail stuff. He’s defending Mamdani.”
He pointed out, “It’s not like Tucker Carlson is out there every day talking about the fight [against] abortion, highlighting pregnancy resource centers in their work, or doing one of millions of different topics that we could cover.”
“I just don’t understand,” Phil continued. “He has Nick Fuentes on the week before the election. And he didn’t have Republican candidates. . . . He didn’t talk about the Virginia race, about the New Jersey race . . . He had Nick Fuentes on. People criticized that. And then after Republicans win, you have certain conservatives attacking Jews and saying it’s Jews’ fault because they were spending this week freaking out about a guest on a podcast.
“Tucker Carlson is a Jew hater. He is the most vile and influential Jew hater in this country. And he is doing more to try to mainstream Jew hatred in this country than anyone alive. He is tearing apart the conservative movement, and he is not doing so while advancing any form of conservatism.”
The Editors podcast is recorded on Tuesdays and Fridays every week and is available wherever you listen to podcasts.
