Koran-Burner, In Context

From a good guy I know in Fla:

Jonah,Can I be your Gainesville, Florida guy?

There is a good bit of context missing in all of these discussions about the Koran burning stunt down here. First, this “church” has about 30 members total. The “pastor” is a certified nutjob who has no influence or pull in the community. His “church” was rung up for tax evasion a while back because a part of the “ministry” is recruiting his congregants to restore furniture and sell it on E-bay. He is basically auditioning to be the next Fred Phelps and has recently taken his message to youtube, where his page views come in well below “gnarly skateboard falls” and “OMG Best Soccer Goal Ever!”

The guy is an old-fashioned snake oil salesman and people have taken the shock value of this stunt and blown it way out of proportion. The fact that this is an international incident is a testament to how the internet can make anyone famous or infamous.

Take care,
