Krauthammer’s Take: Chicago Mayoral Runoff Is Evidence that Dems Want Someone to Challenge Clinton in 2016

Charles Krauthammer said he thinks Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel’s inability to prevent a runoff against a Democratic challenger indicates liberals are looking for someone outside the party’s establishment to rise up in 2016.

“I think there is a hunger for something other than a Clinton or the old establishment,” Krauthammer said on Special Report. “The hunger for, I think, something like a [Elizabeth] Warren in the Democratic base was expressed in Chicago and I think it might prompt her to think again about running.”

Democrats suffer when President Obama isn’t on the ticket because his charisma doesn’t transfer to other candidates, Krauthammer said. He added that it remains to be seen if Hillary Clinton can succeed in 2016 without Obama leading the way.
