Krauthammer’s Take

From Wednesday night’s Fox News All-Stars.

On Obamacare excluding over-the-counter medications from being purchased through health savings accounts:

Two things. It’s an example of the insanity of this bill. In part, the consequences here are unintended. Just adding a layer of complexity which is going to make it hard for anybody to use Tylenol. You have to go to a doctor and get an appointment which is really nuts, adding another level of complexity.

[Largely, however] I think it’s not unintended. This is the use of regulation to kill health savings accounts which are the one element, the one example, of consumer sovereignty in health care. And that’s what liberals want to eradicate. They want a government-run system directly or indirectly. Health savings accounts are an affront.

What you do is you say to anybody holding [an HSA], if you have got arthritis and you want to get Aleve, you are going to have to go to a doctor, waste half a day, pay for a visit — which nobody is going to do. It’s a way to kill the private sector by attrition — in the same way that employers will be dropping health care because of the huge increase in costs as a result of Obamacare, and the fingerprints of the government will not be seen.

South Park as Healing Mechanism

It didn’t take too long into 2020 for people on Twitter to start earnestly debating whether South Park, an extremely popular show that has been on air for decades, has been wreaking havoc on our society with its offensiveness. As far as I can tell, the conversation started with a series of tweets from She-Hulk ... Read More

RIP Bloomberg 2020

I thought that Bloomberg’s confused half-defense of stop-and-frisk was going to be his low point. Well. His torturous response on his lawsuits and NDAs was truly awful -- beyond incompetent. I wouldn’t be surprised if this were the end of Bloomberg 2020. Read More

At the Debate, Only Losers

To be honest, I’d almost forgotten what they were like. Wednesday’s Democratic presidential primary debate was revealing: Mike Bloomberg was revealed to be unprepared, something for which a man with his resources has no possible excuse; Amy Klobuchar was revealed to be a stammering daisy, her big moment ... Bill Barr Derangement Syndrome

Can the republic survive Attorney General William Barr? That’s the question that has seized the media and center-left, which have worked themselves into a full-blown panic over an attorney general who is, inarguably, a serious legal figure and one of the adults in the room late in President Trump’s first ...
