Charles Krauthammer said tonight that President Obama has “always had a simple strategy for ISIS, which is to do nothing until he leaves office and to turn it over to his successor.”
After Wednesday’s Special Report panel decried how only five soldiers remain from the administration’s effort at training Syrian fighters, Krauthammer quipped, “You are overlooking how incredibly well-trained the five guys are.”
Krauthammer said the administration hoped Iraq could keep ISIS contained.
“Ramadi is still in ISIS’s hands, Mosul is still in ISIS’s hands,” he said. “Their strategy now is to rely on Iran and Shiite militias to make sure Baghdad is still in the hands of the government when Obama leaves.”
On Syria, Krauthammer said the administration’s strategy is the same: ”He got bamboozled, pushed into making a speech, Obama, in which he said we are going to ‘degrade and destroy,’ because people demanded he say the words — he never meant it.”
“The policy is not designed to do anything of the sort,” he continued. ”It’s a farce and it’s working precisely as designed.”
