Charles Krauthammer reacted to the news that Texas senator Ted Cruz is running for president by pointing out several potential flaws in his candidacy. Krauthammer said Cruz appeals as a constitutional conservative with a “liquid tongue,” but he has not demonstrated that he can “walk the walk.”

“His real problem, I think, is this, I mean Senators are going to have a hard time; first-term Senators, we already tried a first-term Senator,” Krauthammer said on Special Report. “Cruz talks about you have to walk the walk rather than just talk the talk, you have to have done something. But that’s not his record in the Senate.”

Krauthammer said that another problem Cruz faces is that he will need to fight to win 2016 GOP primary voters with several other contenders vying for the same constituency. Krauthammer compared Cruz to Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, and said Walker can “walk-the-walk” even though he has stumbled.
